Block Engineering's LaserWarn Environmental Gas Monitor Wins Prism Award

Block Engineering, LLC (Block) has won the SPIE 2018 Best Product Prism Award for Environmental Monitoring. The award was given to Block for its LaserWarn™ Analyzer based on next generation quantum cascade lasers (QCLs). The prize was announced on January 31st, 2018 at a black-tie gala in San Francisco, held during SPIE's Photonics West Conference, the largest event in the field. Read the full press release.

Block Engineering's CEO Dr. Petros Kotidis will be giving a talk titled "Breakthrough Applications of Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs) for Standoff Detection of Explosives and Chemical and Biological Targets" at SPIE DSS on Wednesday, April 17th from 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM at the Industry Stage – Exhibition Hall.
In this presentation, Dr. Kotidis will be describing several breakthrough standoff applications, including real-time, multicomponent gas detection and identification for large area protection against chemical attacks, long-standoff detection of trace chemicals including explosives on a variety of real-world surfaces, and detection of biological threats.
